F.A.Q.s

What Are Hair Sparkles?

Hair sparkles are light strands of silk-based hair tinsel. The Sparkle Bitch uses SparkleHQ Hair Sparkles® from the UK. The sparkles are super-fine - this makes a real difference to how the strands behave in the hair and makes them look more delicate than other tinsels, but how you choose to place them determines how subtle they are. The sparkles can be washed, dried and heat-styled up to 210C/400F and can even withstand colour treatments.

How do they work?

Each sparkle is hand-tied to a single strand of hair/or a small group of 2-3 hairs using a tiny latchhook tool; there are no adhesive products or glue involved in the process, no beads, and it does not cause any damage. The hair sparkle then behaves exactly like your natural hair - you can brush, wash, curl, straighten, cut and colour it.

How long do they last?

An individual Hair Sparkle® will last for as long as the hair it is attached to. It could be a day, it could be several weeks. They fall out gradually and even after several months it's not unusual to still have a few strands left (as a general rule strands do not last as long in children's hair). If following aftercare instructions correctly, they can last anywhere from 2-8 weeks.

Is My Hair Long Enough? or How Long Does My Hair Need to Be?

Sparkles can be added to almost any hair length as long as the hair is not close-cropped to the scalp. Still not sure? Feel free to text a photo to The Sparkle Bitch to check!

Can you sparkle VERY CURLY hair?

Yes, the sparkle actually curls similarly to a ribbon as needed.

Can you sparkle braids, locs, and afro-hair?

Yes, using a wide plastic needle the sparkle is woven through braids or locs; as long as hair has some length, sparkling is most likely an option.

How much do they cost?

$15 for every 5 strands - only sold in groups of 5

How many should I get?

It depends upon how sparkly you want to be!

  • 5 sparkles - 2 on each side and 1 in back, or 3 and 2 on sides (or all on one side if that is what you want) - in a layer close to the top layer of hair, but off part so the knots do not show

  • 10 sparkles - 4 on each side with 2 at the back - in a layer close to the top layer of hair, but off part so the knots do not show

  • 15 sparkles - 10 sparkle method, adding layers on both sides

  • 20 sparkles+ - will layer the sparkles throughout the hair

How long does it take?

~40 minutes for 10 sparkles
